Falling in Love with Hanoi’s Autumn

Hanoi, the heart of Vietnam, transforms into a dreamy place during Autumn, from September to November. Imagine walking through streets covered in golden leaves that gently fall like nature’s confetti. The weather turns cooler, and occasional light rain adds a refreshing touch to the air.

Autumn in Hanoi has some special moments that make it truly magical. In October, the city gets dressed up with pretty white milk flowers that smell incredibly nice. These flowers make Hanoi look like a fairy tale land where white petals blanket the city.

As you stroll around, you’ll see sellers on the streets carrying baskets of colorful flowers like daisy, lily,… The air is filled with the delightful smell of special autumn treats like “cốm” (young green rice flakes) and “sấu” (a tropical fruit with a sweet and tangy flavor). And don’t forget the delicious “bánh cốm đậu xanh,” a cake made from mung beans and rice that captures the taste of the season perfectly.

When you’re walking around the Old Town Quarter, you can feel a strong sense of ‘Hanoi.’ The bustling sounds of traffic, the ‘clang’ of cyclo bells, the ‘beep’ of cars, the sound of church bells… All of those bring a distinctive atmosphere –  one of a kind Hanoi.

If you take a walk along streets like Hoang Dieu and Phan Dinh Phung, you’ll be greeted by trees wearing coats of gold leaves. These trees create a beautiful canopy that dances in the wind, making the streets look like they’re from a fairy tale book.

It’s a time to take in the colors, scents, and feelings that come with the best time of year. This delightful experience will stick with you, reminding you of nature’s beauty and the special moments that make Hanoi’s Autumn shine. If you’re planning a visit to Vietnam, this is when you can truly enjoy this romantic feeling in Hanoi.
